To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Zen Leaf Dispensary locations across New Jersey are hosting a fundraiser to benefit one of the nation’s leading breast cancer research and education charities.
Starting Oct. 1, Zen Leaf’s three storefronts in Elizabeth, Neptune and Lawrence will make a donation to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation every time a customer receives a stamp for a purchase on their special punch card. Shoppers will also earn exclusive rewards, the company said.
The monthlong effort is part of parent company Verano Holdings‘ larger multistate initiative in support of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. Verano-run dispensaries in Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada and West Virginia are also participating.
Now in its third year, the campaign has generated “hundreds of thousands of dollars in proceeds” for the Chicago-based nonprofit, according to Verano.
Verano Founder and Chief Executive Officer George Archos said his company is thrilled to support the foundation’s mission of “conducting critical research, education and prevention.”
“We are proud to once again demonstrate the power of the cannabis community as a catalyst for positive change by uniting our team, patients and customers together to continue the fight against breast cancer throughout October and beyond,” he said.
Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation Board Chair Halee Sage said, “We are so very appreciative of Verano’s support of the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation and their efforts to further our mission of eradicating breast cancer by investing in early career practitioners and innovative research.”
